Great value for money

A motorboat speeding on the water during sunset with two people aboard, one sitting at the bow and another at the stern. The sun is setting behind a distant landmass, casting a golden glow over the scene.

Where it all started.

It all started when our founder kept asking himself…

“Why is it so bloody hard to rent a boat in Brisbane?”

Every time he wanted to get out on the bay for a bit of fishing, a day trip to Straddie, or just cruising with mates, it turned into a headache.

So, he decided to do something about it!

At Tide, we’re just a bunch of locals who love a day on the water - fishing rods, eskies and good mates. We wanted to make it easy for anyone to have that same experience without the hassle of figuring it out.

Now, you can book straight from your phone, show up, and set off. No stress, just sun, sea, and good times.

Whether it’s a family day, a quiet morning fishing, or a spontaneous date idea, we’ve got you covered!

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Yes — in Queensland you need a Recreational Marine Driver Licence (RMDL) to operate a powered boat with an engine over 4hp.

That’s why we offer The Tinny with a 4hp motor, which can be hired without a boat licence (drivers licence still required for ID).

  • Yes. All hirers must be 18 years or older and able to provide valid photo ID.

  • All hires operate on a full-to-full fuel policy:

    • You receive the boat with a full tank

    • You return it full

    • If you’re unable to refuel before returning, no problem — we can refuel it for you and simply deduct the fuel cost from your bond. No additional surcharge, just the fuel cost for convenience.

  • Either option is available.

    • Self-tow: You collect the boat on its trailer and launch it yourself.

    • Launch & retrieval service: For a small additional fee, we can deliver/launch and collect the boat at your chosen ramp.

If you’re not confident towing or launching, we recommend choosing the launch & retrieval option, especially for larger boats.

  • Our boats can be used:

    • Anywhere motorised watercraft are permitted

    • Within Moreton Bay (and nearby approved waterways)

    • For smaller boats (like The Tinny) we recommend sticking to rivers, estuaries and sheltered waters.

    • Some dams and waterways around Brisbane do not allow petrol motors — if you're unsure, ask us before booking.

  • We’re here to help. If you experience any issues:

    • Call us straight away

    • We’ll troubleshoot with you and talk you through next steps

All boats are insured and maintained, and we’ll cover emergency processes during the handover briefing.
